Australia to take on Germany next year

The Australian national team will take on Germany in an international friendly in March next year.

The Socceroos, under new coach Holger Osieck, will get their chance to avenge the 4-0 loss in the World Cup when they meet Die Mannschaft at Borussia Park in Monchengladbach on Tuesday, 29 March 2011.

Football Federation Australia and the Deutscher Fussball-Bund have agreed to the match and Socceroos boss Osieck, a German native, is very excited about the prospect.

"This will be a very special match and a great opportunity to test ourselves against a very well-respected opponent," said Osieck.

"The German National team has a very rich and successful football history with a very talented group of current players.

"But I am confident that our players will be up for the challenge against such quality opposition."

Germany are currently ranked 3rd on FIFA rankings and boast international stars such as Philipp Lahm, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Mesut Ozil, Thomas Muller and Miroslav Klose.
