Australia's World Cup bid most important thing for me - Everton's Cahill

Everton and Socceroos star Tim Cahill says Australia's bid for the 2022 World Cup is the most important even of his career.

Cahill arrived in Zurich today ahead of Thursday night's (Friday morning AEDT) announcement and admitted that winning the rights to host the tournament will be great for future generations.

"It's the biggest thing for me because not only am I lucky enough to play in two World Cups but to have a chance of being involved as a spectator or coaching kids in a World Cup that could possibly be in Australia is probably one of the biggest things that can ever happen to me and obviously kids in Australia," he told reporters.

Cahill will be joined today by Socceroos captain Lucas Neill with the duo linking up with the likes of model Elle MacPherson, film director Phillip Noyce and FFA chairman Frank Lowy for the final presentations to be made to FIFA.

Australia's bid for the 2022 World Cup is up against those of the USA, Japan, South Korea and Qatar.
