Australian defender Luke Wilkshire says the national team are now ready to atone for their disappointing loss to Germany at the 2010 World Cup.
The 29-year old right-back was part of the Socceroos line-up which was comprehensively beaten 4-0 by the Germans in South Africa but is planning to make up for that performance with a much-improved showing in Monchengladbach on Wednesday morning.
The Dinamo Moscow man says it is a great opportunity for the Aussies to play well against a truly high-quality opponent.
"It's a big challenge after the disappointing result at the World Cup in South Africa," Wilkshire told foxsports.com.au. "We want to go out and make some amends for that, but it's going to be a very, very tough game, especially on their own turf.
"We're going to try and erase that memory a little bit.
"To be able to get these sort of friendlies is great for our country and great for our team to have this challenge," Wilkshire added.
"Germany are one of the powerhouses of football and have been for many years.
"They've got a great team, a lot of great players.
"We know it's going to be a tough task.
"But it's been a few months now (since we've been together in camp) ... it's a great game for us to have and we've got a big challenge ahead of us."
