Australia risk losing one of their top prospects, Frosinone midfielder Adrian Ucchino, to Italy. Frosinone management have fielded enquiries from Italian FA officials about Ucchino's status, tribalfootball.com has learned.
Ucchino, a former Blacktown City junior from Sydney, has spent almost three years in Frosinone's youth system and is now catching the eye of Italy scouts thanks to his performances with their primavera team.
Indeed, Frosinone coach Francesco Moriero, the former Roma and Inter Milan striker, called Ucchino into his first team squad towards the end of last season to give him a taste of life as a senior pro.
The youngster's player manager, Buddy Farah, is confident Frosinone will offer him terms when it's time to turn pro.
On his international future, Farah told tribalfootball.com: "Ideally he would like it to be Australia - if he is recognized or given the chance.
"However, not everyone is given that chance so other options are still always open."
