Australia to play South Korea in friendly

Football Federation Australia and the Korean Football Association have announced that the Australian national team will play South Korea in an international friendly.

The Socceroos will take on the Taeguk Warriors at Hwaseong Stadium, Hwaseong in the Korea Republic on Wednesday 14 November 2012.

Australia and South Korea have met 24 times prior to this fixture with the most recent contest coming at the 2011 Asian Cup in Qatar which ended 1-1.

Socceroos manager Holger Osieck admitted he was looking forward to taking on Choi Kang-hee's 25th ranked side to continue their development during 2014 World Cup qualifying.

"This will be another important game as part of our preparation for the second phase of this round of qualifiers," said Osieck.

"We are now at the halfway mark and we need to focus on our remaining qualification matches.

"It's always a challenge to face the Korea Republic, who are currently sitting at the top of their group, and the match will serve as a good comparison test for us."
