Australia not getting carried with semi-final demolition says Neill

Australia's 6-0 Asian Cup semi-final win over Uzbekistan is no cause for celebration just yet says captain Lucas Neill. The Socceroos completely demoralized the Uzbeks in Doha on Tuesday night (Wednesday morning AEDT), scoring twice in the first half before adding four more late in the piece.

But Neill is well aware that a score like that in an Asian Cup final four match is a rarity and knows that it is highly unlikely to occur again.

"We won't get carried away…the score line is irrelevant," said Neill.

"The fact that we won is important but the players are going to have confidence now in front of goal and we know if we can create one chance or a couple of chances then we've got a great opportunity for somebody putting the ball in the back of the net.

"At the other end we've only let in one goal in five games so we're hard to break down too, so you can't ask for any more going into a final."

That final will be played on Saturday, January 29 (Sunday 2:00am AEDT) against the might of Japan at Doha's Khalifa Stadium.
