The Australian national team have fallen to their lowest FIFA ranking since 2004, dropping seven places from their August ranking of 46.
The Socceroos find themselves sitting 53rd in the world following the weekend’s 6-0 friendly loss to Brazil.
Australia, who were sitting 21st in FIFA’s rankings in 2009, are now outside the top 50 for the first time in nine years and have also dropped to third in Asia behind Japan and Iran.
The Blue Samurai remain at the top of the pops in Asia but have fallen five places from last month to 42 whilst Iran are up four places to move to 48th.
Nations sitting above the Socceroos include Burkina Faso, Cape Verde Islands, Egypt, Tunisia and Paraguay whilst European minnows Iceland and Armenia are directly below the Aussies.
