Australia drop to fourth at Women's Asian Football Championship

Sixteen minutes into the game, Japanese player Yuki Nagasato drove the ball over the Australian goalkeeper Melissa Barbieri for the opening goal.

Her teammates Aya Miyama and Homare Sawa completed the scoring late in the second half.

The Matildas came agonisingly close a number of times but ultimately paid the price for missed chances.
