Australia coach Verbeek worried players won't be up to World Cup level

Australia national team coach Pim Verbeek is worried that players involved in the A-League may not be up to World Cup standard.

As the debate rages whether or not players in Australia's domestic competition are good enough to play for the national team, Verbeek said he was mainly worried about the timing of when the league finishes rather than the individuals themselves.

"I'm not so worried about the individual qualities of these players. My worries are more the difference between World Cup level and A-League level, plus the fact that the A-League finishes in March," Verbeek said whilst blogging at heraldsun.com.au yesterday.

"They know it will be difficult to be in World Cup form when not playing games in March, April or May. But I know they're all working to find a solution and I'll help if I can."
