Australia in Brazil to test world's best - Wright

Australia defender Bailey Wright believes his country's presence at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil is a massive achievement in itself.

The Socceroos are preparing for their Group B opener against Chile in Cuiaba, which takes place on Friday evening, and are setting themselves to test some of the best teams in the world.

Preston North End's Wright is of the belief that Australia just being there is a huge positive but insists that the players are determined to mix it with the Chileans as well as reigning champions Spain and 2010 runners-up Holland in their three group stage matches.

"Football in Australia has grown a lot, and is getting bigger and bigger all the time - the A-League is growing and attracting more players and the support is getting better, but it is massive for Australia for us to get to the World Cup and for us to be here shows the kids what can be done, and it is a huge thing," Wright told Sky Sports.

"You play football to test yourself, and to play against the best in the world. That is what football is all about, you want to test yourself and there is no better opportunity, Spain are the world champions, Holland and Chile - three very good teams but something we are looking forward to."
