Australian national team boss Holger Osieck has heaped praise on Brett Holman following his superb performance in Tuesday night's friendly draw with Serbia. The 27-year old AZ Alkmaar star produced a brilliant attacking display in the 0-0 draw at Melbourne's Etihad Stadium and his turn attracted the plaudits of Osieck who has only seen positive stuff from the Socceroos' former scapegoat.
"I don't know about Brett's history before I came to Australia. I just saw him play in the World Cup against Ghana and I liked what I saw," Osieck said after the match.
"When I came and took over, he was right away a starter for me from game one in Switzerland. He has really confirmed my expectation and my confidence and today again, he showed his value for his team.
"I'm very happy I have him in the team because he can play more positions, in the centre, up front. He can operate from the flanks. He has a great tactical awareness, he has the pace and he has the guts to really challenge.
"Brett is really exceptional. I like him very much, I must say."
