Austin nets as QPR ease past Exeter in Capital One Cup

Charlie Austin scored his first goal for new club QPR as they beat Exter City 2-0 in the first round of the Capital One Cup.

The former Burnley star had some fortune in opening his R's account as Jermain Jenas' effort struck him before diverting into the back of the net inside three minutes at St James Park.

Fellow summer signing Danny Simpson (from Newcastle United) added a second for Harry Redknapp's Championship side early in the second half when he fired a low shot across goal and into the far corner.

Redknapp put out a fairly strong team against the League Two opposition with the likes of Richard Dunne, Simpson, Clint Hill, Jenas, Joey Barton, Bobby Zamora and Junior Hoilett all starting.
