USSFD2 club Austin Aztex have revealed they were within a whisker of signing Stoke City youngster Louis Moult.

The 17-year old was being tracked by the Aztex and they came close to a loan deal with the English Premier League club to have him further his development but the deal fell through at the last minute because of FIFA regulations.

"We were very excited about the prospect of having Louis join us this summer. Tony Pulis was extremely helpful and positive about the move as well," Aztex President and Owner Phil Rawlins said.

"Unfortunately we couldn't qualify under the FIFA regulations and were only a month short of making this happen. Although both clubs are committed to making similar loans come to pass in the future."

Moult has gone on to sign a professional contract with Stoke and also made his league debut last month.
