Aussie ace Luongo determined to be QPR regular

Massimo Luongo is committed to building on his stellar showing for the Socceroos at the 2015 Asian Cup by earning consistent game time for QPR this season.

Luongo made the move to Loftus Road from League One outfit Swindon Town for an undisclosed fee, believed to be around £2.5million, in May.

The 22-year-old's outstanding performance at January's Asian Cup is understood to have caught the eye of QPR and played a major role in the deal.

However, Luongo has put the hype generated by Australia's first Asian Cup triumph behind him as he focuses on helping QPR immediately return to the English Premier League.

"Because I am not (in Australia) I don't see the headlines and what's being written about me so much," Luongo told AAP.

"After the first (Asian Cup) game against Kuwait in Melbourne when I scored and was man of the match, the hype was crazy - like nothing I'd ever experienced.

"Straight after the final I came back to Swindon. We had an away game. It was wet, freezing cold, we played badly and lost. That's when you realise the past is the past and you move on very quickly in football.

"The Asian Cup was the best thing in my career, but I need to make sure I am a regular for QPR ... that will help me keep my place in the Socceroos side."
