Attitude of coaches put me off Liverpool - Celtic's Watt

Celtic young gun Tony Watt has revealed he was put off Liverpool because of the attitude of some of the coaches there.

The 19-year old Hoops striker spent some time training with the Anfield giants back when he was with Airdrie United but was not overly thrilled by his experiences on Merseyside.

"I went down to Liverpool for three days when I was at Airdrie. It was good - I'd never seen anything like it in all my life," he told SunSport.

"The pitches were unbelievable, with great facilities, and it was just one of those once-in-a-lifetime opportunities.

"I didn't see any of the big players - it was mostly the Liverpool scouts and youth coaches.

"But I didn't really like the attitude of some of the coaches and the way they treated you.

"I was just like another fish in the pond for them. I was just another trialist whereas at Celtic I was made to feel really welcome from the first day.

"Celtic and Liverpool have great histories, but I was a Celtic fan and probably not ready to move from Scotland anyway so it was always Celtic for me.

"I would have considered Liverpool if they made a bid, but Celtic got in first and that was that.

"There was only one place I was ever going to go."
