Belgium defender Toby Alderweireld admits that Scotland have improved out of sight since in the past year.
The Atletico Madrid centre-half and his Belgian teammates defeated Gordon Strachan's Scots 2-0 in Glasgow on Friday night but insists they were a much more difficult prospect than the team that were beaten 2-0 in Brussels last October.
Alderweireld, who swapped Dutch giants Ajax for Atletico this summer, feels that the Scottish side can have a say at Euro2016 if they continue to rise as they have done in the past 12 months.
"As for Scotland there is a big difference from last year. There was more confidence and they played better football than the last game in Brussels. But we were still the better team in Glasgow," he said.
"For sure, there is an improvement in Scotland. I felt their confidence.
"The last time they were a bit afraid. They were scared to lose a lot of goals. Now, they are confident and enjoy playing in front of their own supporters.
"You have to keep working hard and believe in yourself. Be confident.
"It's the same for the youth players. They need to keep improving. It's very important. They can achieve things if they believe.
"If Scotland keep improving like they have been and keep the confidence they've got then of course they can qualify for 2016. They are a good team, especially at home with their own fans behind them.
"I don't see any reason they can't make it to the European championships but a lot always depends on what group you get in the qualification process.
"If you draw France and Spain it's going to be difficult but in another group, why not?"
