Tottenham are being encouraged to bid for Atletico Madrid striker Diego Forlan.
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is keen to add a world class striker after failing to land Sevilla's Luis Fabiano in the summer.
And although Forlan was much maligned during his time at Manchester United, he has been reborn at Atletico Madrid and was named the best player at the World Cup finals after helping Uruguay to fourth place at South Africa 2010.
Rafael van der Vaart's arrival at White Hart Lane has led to Redknapp preferring to play just one up front, but only Jermain Defoe has proved to be prolific.
The bad news for Spurs is that Real Madrid have made a move for Forlan.
Marca says Real have offered about £15million, but Atletico hope to drive up the price by exploring interest from Tottenham and Juventus.
