Atletico Madrid could've had Alexandre Pato partnering Sergio Aguero in their attack, it has been revealed.

El Mundo Deportivo says while Pato was still with Internacional, Atletico went well down the road to signing the youngster. Atletico officials even flew to Brazil to close the deal and had the approval of Pato, himself.

However, AC Milan managed to step in late to secure Pato's signature and the rest is history.
