Spanish club Atletico Madrid are set to go after Odion Ighalo in next month's winter transfer window.

According to reports, the La Liga outfit have watched the Watford star on a number of occasions this season and are preparing a January offer for his services.

It is believed Atletico are willing to pay around £12million for the Nigerian who tallied his 14th Premier League goal of the season in Monday night's 2-1 loss to Tottenham.

Atleti boss Diego Simeone has been largely unimpressed by summer arrival Jackson Martinez and is considering letting the Colombian go next month if he can bring in an apt replacement in the form of Ighalo who has scored in six straight league matches.
