Atletico Madrid's two-goal Diego Costa was delighted to thump Real Madrid in last night's European Super Cup final.

After two Champions League final defeats to Real Madrid, Costa was happy to take some revenge.

"It's a great victory, we've been wanting to beat them for a long time and I'm really happy, they beat us in two finals and we always wanted to do it in a European final against them," beamed Costa.

The striker believes the triumph achieved last night will allow them to "gain confidence" for this season, in which he is convinced that they will be able to fight "with any team" and reach "where we want to with work and humility".
