Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has raised doubts over the future of coach Javier Aguirre after being critical of the Mexican over two key moments this season.

On the sale of Maniche to Inter Milan in January, Cerezo complained: "It was wrong that he was allowed to leave. He had a confrontation with the coach, who said that he did not want to him, and it was absurd to have left him on the bench.

"We did not reinforce that position because we did not find anything in the market."

Cerezo also commented on the on-off deal for Juan Roman Riquelme, who eventually left Villarreal for Boca Juniors.

"Miguel Angel Gil and Enrique Cerezo agreed to sign him and we had him tied up, but the coaches said 'no'. Would he have played if he had come? I now believe that yes, but if the trainer does not want him, well ..."
