Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo insists coach Javier Aguirre's job is safe.

"Whatever happens against Villarreal, Javier Aguirre will remain coach of Atletico Madrid," said Cerezo.

"We knew that the game against Liverpool was going to be difficult, in the end even if we could win and did not win it was because of the circumstances that we all know. But we earned a good result for the qualification of the Champions League and now we need to focus on the league, with Villarreal and Real Mallorca."
