Atletico Madrid intend to offer £9 million for Chelsea defender Alex.

The Sun says the Spaniards are planning wholesale changes for next season with new coach Cholo Simeone tipped to come in as a permanent replacement for the recently sacked Javier Aguirre.

And Simeone has already told club officials that Alex is his top target. The Brazilian was previously sought by Atletico while at PSV Eindhoven but he joined Chelsea instead in 2004.
