Atletico Madrid are keen to open new contract talks with club captain Maxi Rodriguez.

Only last season Atletico extended Maxi's deal to 2010 and also raised his buyout clause to £40 million. But such is his form this season - and his influence on youngsters such as Sergio Aguero - Atletico are keen to secure him to a new deal.

Maxi's representatives, IMG, have already been contacted by Atletico about beginning talks for a new agreement.
