Atletico Madrid are encouraging Tottenham to bid for striker Diego Forlan.

The Daily Mail says Atletico need cash and are ready to sell Forlan, 31, to Tottenham for £10m but his wages and age are issues.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp admitted his admiration for Forlan last week.

But he also conceded that chairman Daniel Levy was unlikely to stump up the cash for a player well past 30 years of age.
