Atletico Madrid are moving to secure Diego Simeone to a new deal amid interest from Manchester City.
It emerged last that City had made contact with the Argentine coach about a summer move to England - and received a positive response.
The Daily Star says Atletico president Enrique Cerezo has spoken this week with Simeone, who has again vowed to stay put.
For their part, reports in Spain have stated the club are now looking to reward his loyalty and increased standing with a £500,000-a-year wage hike.
