Atletico Madrid move to beat Barcelona for Sporting Gijon defender Alberto Botia

Barcelona will have to act quickly to land Sporting Gijon defender Alberto Botia.

Barca want to re-sign Botia in the summer as cover for veteran centre-back Carles Puyol and still have a buy-back option in the youngster's deal.

However, Atletico Madrid are also keen, where new coach Diego Simeone has received glowing scouting reports on the Spain international.

It's understood Barca's buy-back clause expires at the end of this season.
