Atletico Madrid are monitoring Independiente starlet Patricio 'Pato' Rodriguez.

The 17 year-old has been likened to Atletico star Sergio Aguero and was outstanding for Independiente in a friendly on the weekend against Boca Juniors.

Atletico have been following Pato's progress and will move quickly for the youngster should he make an impact in the Argentine championship this season.

The youngster said: "I'm proud that they compare me with him, but El Kun is a genius... I've hardly begun to take my first steps and I know that I need to learn a lot. I want to continue like this, slowly, calmly... The truth is I could not have hoped that so many things could happen for me in such a short time."
