Atletico Madrid defender Tomas Ujfalusi has apologised to Barcelona star Lionel Messi over the tackle that has laid him up.

Messi is facing two weeks off his feet after suffering ankle ligament damage in a clash with Ujfalusi.

"I am sorry. I wanted to apologize publicly because I did not mean to hurt him. I sent him an sms, I wanted to talk, but I could not, he was furious," said Ujfalusi.
