Atletico Madrid defender Lucas Hernandez says teammate Antoine Griezmann deserves the Ballon d'Or.

The 22-year-old has backed Griezmann after the latter's omission from FIFA's The Best award three-man shortlist.

"Griezmann deserves [the Ballon d'Or] and, for me, he is the favourite [to win it]," he told France Football.

"He has excelled in all the competitions he has played this year.

"It is Griezmann's year."
