Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone is willing to see Antoine Griezmann sold in 2018.
AS says United are in a much stronger position to sign Griezmann.
The Frenchman has been long been coveted by United and Jose Mourinho, but Atletico Madrid's transfer ban and the need to replace the injured Zlatan Ibrahimovic with a central striker scuppered the deal.
But Griezmann's release clause will reduce the previous level from January, and he could be available next summer.
Griezmann is "no longer untouchable" and manager Diego Simeone is fed up with his team relying on the Frenchman.
