Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone has responded to criticism of their football by Barcelona legend Xavi.

Xavi says he couldn't understand why Atletico would "play so negatively".

"I respect all opinions," replied Simeone.

"In football, we all have our reasons.

"Me, I strive to do my best with the players at my disposal. The day I coach the national team is the day I get to choose my players. In a club, we cannot impose our ideals."
