Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone was happy with victory over Las Palmas.

Atletico earned a 1-0 win on the opening weekend of the season.

"I think we played well, we tried to play and get the ball to our forwards. In the second half we had more depth. We will continue to watch Sevilla, Valencia and Villarreal, who have made good signings," said Simeone.

On Jackson Martinez, Simeone added: "He worked very well, it's difficult to get him off the ball with his back to goal and he helped us get forward. We weren't able to get the ball to him in the area and he'll grow the more games he plays."
