Atletico Madrid are competing with Chelsea for RacingGenk goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
Atletico recently sold Spain Under 21 international goalkeeper David De Gea to Manchester United for £17million so a new back-up goalkeeper is a priority.
"There are positions where we have problems and one of them is in goal," coach Gregorio Manzano said in AS.
"If something bad happened we would be in trouble and so we want to strengthen in that area.
"(Thibaut) Courtois hasn't been ruled out although it is complicated as Chelsea are also involved."
