Atletico Madrid sports chief Jesus Garcia Pitarch has left the door open to Brazilian midfielder Thiago Motta.

"We talked with him about a one-year contract, which would be a pay-as-you-play agreement," said Pitarch. "But ten or twelve days ago he told us he was going to leave, because he had a chance with another club for bigger wages.

"We did not want to hold him back, but if he asks we would help him again."
