Atletico Madrid GM Miguel Angel Gil Marin admits they discussed signing Fernando Torres.

The Chelsea striker is now on a two-year loan with AC Milan.

Gil Marin said: "It is not true that he could return. It is true that we raised the possibility, but under no circumstances did we open any negotiations.

"To me, at least, (coach Diego) Simeone did not ask me."
