Atletico Madrid are competing with Chivas de Guadalajara for Stuttgart defender Francisco Javier Rodriguez.
Better known as 'Maza', the Mexico international is inside the final two years of his Stutttgart deal and attracting transfer interest from around the globe.
Chivas want to bring Maza back home, but will face competition from Atletico Madrid, where coach Diego Simeone is eager to sign the 31 year-old to strengthen his defensive options.
