Atletico Madrid boss Simeone to replace Wenger at Arsenal - Parlour

Arsenal legend Ray Parlour has backed Diego Simeone to soon take over at Arsenal.

The former Gunners midfielder believes the Atletico Madrid boss is the man to replace Arsene Wenger when the Frenchman finally ends his two-decade tenure in North London.

Wenger has hinted that the 2016/17 season could be his last at Arsenal which leads Parlour to believe that Argentine Simeone could step in at the Emirates Stadium next summer.

"The favourite would be Simeone," he told The Sun.

"He demands out of his players and he's a bit more defensive minded. But he is Atletico Madrid manager.

"It's a situation where you don't know. Who's available? Who's available at that time of their reign?

"You've always got to assess the situation that season.

"It won't be easy to find a new manager because the Guardiolas and the Mourinhos have long-term contracts now.

"Ronald Koeman would have been a good spot but Evertonhave got him now which is great for them. They should do well.

"But Simeone is always mentioned."
