Atletico boss Simeone targets Arsenal's Alexis and Chelsea's Costa to replace Greizmann

Diego Simeone will pressure the Atletico Madrid board to sign either Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez or Chelsea's Diego Costa, if Antoine Griezmann leaves for Manchester United.

The Daily Mail reports that Simeone wants the club to display a 'show of strength' by being able to recruit world-class talent.

Any prospective deal relies on whether Atletico are able to sign players, as Los Rojiblancos' appeal against a two-year transfer ban will be resolved by the end of the month.

If the ban is lifted, Atletico will be able to invest the money they'll receive from Antoine Griezmann's departure.

Costa almost came close to joining Atletico last summer but the deal was blocked by Antonio Conte. The report suggests that despite interest from China, Costa would happily move back to Madrid.
