Athletic Bilbao are moving for Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta.

The Spain international has always insisted he's happy at Stamford Bridge, however Athletic hope to convince him about a return home.

Azpilicueta left Osasuna almost eight years ago to sign for Olympique Marseille.

Athletic are preparing a €20m offer to convince Chelsea to part with the defender, according to local media sources.

Pamplona-born Azpilicueta would fit the bill for Athletic Bilbao, who have an unwritten rule of only signing players born in the Basque country.

But Athletic Bilbao, who finished 16th in La Liga last term, would be unable to offer Azpilicueta the chance to play in Europe.
