Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga has revisited his decision to turn down Real Madrid in January.
The Spain international came close to joining Real before rejecting their offer and penning new terms with Bilbao. His deal now runs to 2025 and carries a €80m buyout clause.
Kepa stated: "I explained it after prolonging my contract. The truth is that during the window, I finally decided to stay. As I said, I needed a moment to think. It was a decision of my life and it was necessary to take the best way for the continuation of my sports career.
"For that, I needed time and got together with my family and my closest friends. In the end, I wanted to be sure and weigh the pros and cons. When everything was clear, I made the decision to sign a new long-term contract, and I am very happy with it."
