Kepa Arrizabalaga has fronted the local media after signing his new contract with Athletic Bilbao.

The goalkeeper was expected to sign for Real Madrid this month, however he penned new terms with Bilbao this week.

"Now I have renewed and nobody loves me, I will not value what people say. I have been thoughtful, I have analysed everything. I have been contacted by clubs but after thinking about everything, the best thing for me is Athletic," he said.

"I will not go into assess what teams were interested, there have been some that have been interested, since the 1st I could negotiate with other clubs, it is normal, I want to thank those who have been interested. The important thing is that I am here and happy.

"I have needed my time, many people will not understand it. I'm quiet. I have made the decision when I thought it appropriate. I have done what I wanted."

Asked about rumours of him taking a medical with Real Madrid before Christmas, Kepa denied the claims.

"The test that I usually pass is the one I do at the beginning of the season here. Many things are said that are not true. What has been published has not had to do with making the decision sooner or later. My situation has changed a lot in a year."
