Athletic Bilbao defender Aymeric Laporte has spoken of resisting a move to Manchester City.

The youngster rejected City when they came calling last summer.

He told France Football: "Was it because I'm not ready for a big machine, like that of Manchester City? Maybe, but, besides, I was hurt this summer. I did not want to take the risk either.

"It would have complicated things not to be 100%. But, moving, changing the framework, it does not scare me, as I was not afraid to leave France at fifteen.

"Do I fear that my release clause (€50m) can block my departure? It could, but City was ready to do it."
