Athletic Bilbao defender Aymeric Laporte has left the door open to playing for Spain.
The talented Frenchman, rated highly by Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, is yet to be capped by Les Bleus at senior level.
He recalled to L'Equipe: "Some time ago, (teammate Ander) Iturraspe came to me and asked if (Spain coach Vicente) Del Bosque could come talk to me.
"Before the World Cup, I also had contacts.
"There were teammates saying: 'Come on, this is the World Cup'.
"For now, my goal is to be called by France, but if I end up not being selected by them, other options could be considered."
