Atalanta’s Troisi planning to improve even further with Melbourne Victory

James Troisi has begun his loan spell with Melbourne Victory in fine form but feels he has even more to offer once he reaches peak fitness.

The 25-year old attacking midfielder, who is on a one-year deal from Italian club Atalanta (with Juventus also owning his rights), has netted four goals in four A-League outings since his arrival in Melbourne but is confident he will be able to provide more scoring threat for the Victory.

“I missed a lot of football last season and didn't have much of a pre-season so it's been a period of slowly getting back to match fitness and match sharpness,” said Troisi.

“It’s getting better game by game and hopefully I am not far away now from being where I want to be.

“It’s been a good start for me. I am scoring goals and making chances. I am enjoying playing in a No.10 role for Victory.

"It’s ideally where I want to be on the field rather than operating as a wide player and it’s where I think I can be most effective.

“I can also play through balls and I can drop deep and then play behind the striker, so it’s a great position for me.

“Right now my confidence is high. I have taken my goals well and I feel there should be more to come.”
