Atalanta president Ivan Ruggeri has revealed they won't be offering a new contract to veteran Cristiano Doni.
"I won't let a player destabilise my club, Doni has been threatening to use the media to besmirch this outfit and my management for the past two months.
"I want to make it clear that Doni signed a two-year contract in August 2006, I wanted to offer a one-year deal but he insisted and I accepted because I wanted to please him.
"After a few months, his agent started asking for a pay rise and he has also recently asked for an extension until June 2009."
Doni has been linked with Palermo recently, but apparently stated that he was ready to quit football if Atalanta failed to meet his requests.
"If he really wants to keep faith to his words and is thinking of hanging up his boots, he might as well run to the hardware store.
"Doni should be a professional footballer, instead I think he has forgotten his contractual and moral duties."
