Atalanta coach Gianpiero Gasperini doesn't want Franck Kessie's situation to become a transfer saga.
The Italian press say Liverpool are planning a €22 million offer for the Ivorian.
Asked about the rumours, Gasperini replied: "If he is ready for a top club? Well, he's ready to play a good game tomorrow, the market is an unacceptable excuse.
"There is an important position in the table that's been won with merit and must be defended, all the other talk has nothing to do with it.
"If some players allow themselves to get carried away, they're not ready to play at a high level. I hope any operations to be done quickly and clearly, but it's possible we will speak when the market is open."
