Aston Villa youngster Grealish chooses England but will not receive clearance just yet

Jack Grealish has pledged his allegiance to England but will not be eligible to play for the national team next month.

The talented Aston Villa midfielder had the option to select the Republic of Ireland as his nation of choice but wound up committing to the Three Lions.

However, with Roy Hodgson set to name his squad for October Euro2016 qualifiers against Estonia and Lithuania on Thursday, 20-year-old Grealish will not be giving clearance in time to be selected for those particular matches.

Nevertheless, the promising youngster has made himself available for future England squads after releasing a statement earlier on Monday.

"I have decided to give my allegiance to England," read the short statement.

"It was not easy decision as Ireland has a special place through my family. However, I have decided to represent the country of my birth."
