Aston Villa winger James Milner has suffered a home burglary.
The Mirror says Milner's house was targeted by burglars while he was playing at Wembley.
The thieves tried to force their way in as the Aston Villa midfielder made a second-half appearance in England's 2-1 win over Slovenia on Saturday.
Milner's girlfriend discovered the bungled break-in when she returned to his home near Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands, after the match.
She would not comment. But Det Chief Insp Paul Keasey said: "It's a shame someone representing his country in sport should be targeted like this."
