Aston Villa urged to move for Ipswich boss McCarthy

Former Leicester City boss Ian Holloway says Aston Villa should move for Ipswich manager Mick McCarthy.

McCarthy has a proven track record in the Championship, leading both Sunderland and Wolves to promotion and getting Ipswich into the play-offs last season on one of the smaller budgets in the division.

"Mick McCarthy should be on the shortlist for the next Aston Villa job, without a shadow of a doubt," Holloway told Sky Sports.

"I think Ipswich will do well to hold onto McCarthy this summer. Someone with his credibility and know-how will be hot property."
